Are you up for a challenging walk?
If yes, this is the walk for you, as there is 21kms of trails topped with 741 metres ascent bringing you to the top of the imposing Sugarloaf.
After checking in at Clogheen Community Centre, you will be bussed to the starting point.
The trail begins outside Newcastle picking up the Knockmealdown trail which then merges into sections of East Munster Way and Tipperary Heritage Way before taking a turn up initially on the Vee Valley Loop but continuing on up the zig zag route to the top of the Sugarloaf with marvelous 360 degree views taking in the full gamut of valleys below.
The trail then turns down for Bay Lough resplendent in groves of blooming rhododendrons cascading down to the lough. You will continue on the Bay Lough Loop and Blackwater Way back to Clogheen.
After checking back in at Clogheen Community Hall, you will enjoy a hot meal while being entertained with live music on stage.
This walk is ideal for experienced trail walkers and those with a good level of fitness that are looking for a challenge.
