Saturday ‘A’ Walk
Surgarloaf Loop

19 km, 615 metres ascent

Admire Sugarloaf peak from Clogheen
First half gradual uphill
Follow Avondhu Way/Blackwater Way to Bay Lough
Trail laden with Rhododendrons
Pass Bay Lough with legend of Petticoat Loose
Lake surrounded by mountain of Rhododendrons
Open mountain walking
Look down into Blackwater Valley
Reach the border wall between Tipperary and Waterford
Amazing views of Vee Valley
Descend to Vee hairpin
Pick up Tipperary Heritage Way trail
Divert onto East Munster Way trail
Head into valley of Rhododendrons, crossing wooden footbridge, forest trails back to Clogheen
Check out and enjoy refreshments

Saturday ‘B’ Walk
Knockshanahullion Half Loop
15 km, 260 meters ascent Bused to start point

Pick up Avondhu Way at Sheep Pens
Look down into Araglen Valley
Clearly pick out Dungarvan Harbour, Youghal, Fermoy, Mitchelstown
Admire Sugarloaf and Knockmealdown Peaks
Come off mountain at Vee Pass car park
Pass Bay Lough with legend of Petticoat Loose Lake surrounded by mountain of Rhododendrons
Soldiers Path, old Clogheen Lismore road
Check out and receive hot meal and dessert with live entertainment playing on stage

 

 

Saturday ‘C’ Walk
Reigh Famine Cemetery Loop
10 km, 150 metres ascent

Follow footpath up the Vee road
Visit Reigh Famine Cemetery
Rhododendron laden trails
1km road walking
Re-enter forest adorned with Rhododendrons
Gradual uphill walk with plenty of stops
Pick up East Munster Way trail
Admire views of Galty Vee Valley, Comeraghs and Slievenamon
Rest stop in Picnic Site
Soldiers path, old Clogheen Lismore road
Return to village
Check out and enjoy refreshments

Sunday ‘A’ Walk
Rhododendron Loop
13 km, 380 metres ascent

Gradual uphill walk
Trail laden with Rhododendrons
Deep into valley of Rhododendrons
Trail may be wet in parts, waterproof footwear recommended
Come out above the tree line to give amazing views of Galty Vee Valley
Descend to Bay Lough with its fabulous Rhododendron backdrop
Short steep descent to Loughglen Bridge to admire another amazing sight of a valley of Rhododendrons
Head into valley of Rhododendrons crossing wooden footbridge, forest trails back to Clogheen
Check out, enjoy the finger-food with live entertainment on stage.

 

Sunday ‘B’ Walk
Duck Pond Trail
11 km, 190 metres ascent

Bused to start point
Visit wildlife sanctuary at Kildanogue Duck Pond
Relatively flat trail
Pick up Tipperary Heritage Way trail
Skirt lowlands of the Knockmealdowns
Wander through remote forest
Cross pretty mountain streams
Pass under renowned beauty spot The Vee
See entire Galtee mountain range
Divert onto East Munster Way trail
Head into valley of Rhododendrons, crossing wooden footbridge, forest trails back to Clogheen
Check out and enjoy refreshments

Sunday ‘C’ Walk
Baylough Downhill Walk
8 km, descent from 85m

Bused to start, taking in the Vee hairpin with fabulous views
Practically all downhill walk to Clogheen
Descend to Baylough with its fabulous Rhododendron backdrop
Short steep descent to Loughglen Bridge to admire another amazing sight of a valley of Rhododendrons
Head into valley of Rhododendrons crossing wooden footbridge, forest trails back to Clogheen
Check out, enjoy the finger-food and live entertainment on stage.
